Abel Beyene (born 1995, Addis Abeba, Ethiopia) is an interdisciplinary visual artist who explores the relationship between shifting identities and global issues through his acrylic paintings, collages, oil paintings, digital art and photography. Beyene studied art at Abyssinia Fine Arts & Vocational Training Centre and at the Teferi Mekonen School between the years of 2015-2018.
Beyene investigates themes of history, diversity, knowledge and migration, addressing the complexities of the human experience in an ever-changing world. His work has been showcased in various art exhibitions, and he has actively participated in workshops and volunteer services.
Drawing from his Ethiopian heritage and the rich cultural tapestry of Addis Ababa, Beyene’s art serves as a medium for social commentary and a catalyst for dialogue. Through his multidisciplinary approach, he challenges conventional notions of identity and belonging, inviting viewers to reflect on the interconnectedness of individuals and the global community.
As an emerging artist, Abel Beyene continues to refine his artistic language and push the boundaries of his chosen medium, contributing to the contemporary art discourse in Ethiopia and beyond.
