Helen Scalway originally trained as a sculptor in Kingston University, and Chelsea College of Art. She taught in various schools and colleges before becoming an artist in residence in the drawing Studio at Wimbledon College of Art and in the Geography Department of Royal Holloway, London University and Exeter University. She has also worked at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London.

Her works have been shown in many exhibitions internationally and in the UK, including the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.
